Stand-alone courses can also serve as preparation for practical competence development within an integrated model. Stand-alone courses usually offer a fundamental understanding of the principles and theories of social competences, while integrated courses for the development of social competences provide their practical application. The effectiveness of this approach depends on how well the stand-alone courses and the integrated courses are coordinated and complement each other. The blended model, if well prepared and implemented, can be very effective. However, it requires careful coordination of the different elements of the teaching process.
